Dr Bill Holsworth is a renowned ecologist, mammalogist, wildlife biologist and philanthropist. In 1989 Bill and his wife Carol established the Holsworth Wildlife Research Endowment to fund grants to universities for postgraduate students in fauna and flora.
Bill holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science from the University of British Columbia and he received a Ph.D. from the University of Western Australia in 1964. His Ph.D. research was on the population dynamics of the Quokka on Rottnest Island. In 2004 he was granted honorary life membership by the Australian Mammal Society for his long and outstanding service to the Society and the advancement of our knowledge of Australasian mammals.
As a former university student and academic, he was all too aware of the number of quality projects and students missing out on funding. Since setting up the Endowment Bill has funded thousands of students and their projects. In 2014 The Holsworth Endowment became available at all Australian Universities.
