To summarize contemporary knowledge regarding the use and challenges of lethal predator control and alternative approaches for reducing predator impacts
Type of Study:
There are four key issues that can compromise the effectiveness of lethal control. 1. Release of herbivore and mesopredator populations. 2 Disruption of predator social systems. 3 Compensatory predator immigration. 4 Ethical concerns.
Predator management requires greater consideration and assessment of the pros and cons of interventions, and what alternatives to lethal control may be available.
