To test that P-fertiliser residues will limit the establishment of native plant species and their mycorrhizas to old-fields in the wheat-growing region (i.e. the wheatbelt) of Western Australia.
Type of Study:
Inability of species to down-regulate P uptake rather than a lack of mycorrhizal symbiosis will constrain their establishment on wheatbelt old-fields.
With and without AM inoculum, P addition at three levels, P0, P1 and P10,
2-way ANOVA, ANCOVA,
Response variable :
Above and belowground biomass, % AMF colonization, scored external hyphae on a scale of 0–3, whereby 0 = no hyphae, 1 = <10 hyphae, 2 = 10–30 hyphae and 3 = >30 hyphae.
